Z.C.A. Hires Walt Smith to Lead the

Eagle Football Team!!

Zion Christian Academy is pleased to officially announce that our new head football coach is Coach Walt Smith. Coach Smith has spent the last 9 years at the helm of the Mt. Pleasant High School program where he led the Tigers to the play-offs in eight straight seasons, including two semi-final appearances.  He was the Tennessee State Coach of the Year in 2004 and was named Regional Coach of the year three times (’03, ’04, and ’06).  The Tigers went 76-32 while he was the head coach.

/files/Athletics/walt smith.jpgWe are extremely thrilled to have Walt join the Zion family.  Walt is a talented football coach and he is committed to leading young men to be imitators of Christ.  He is definitely the right man to build upon the foundation that Coach Yancey and Coach Brenner have laid.

Walt Smith is married to Amy and they have two children Abby and Quint.

Zion’s football program just completed its 10th season. The Eagles have made the play-offs each of the last three seasons.  Walt Smith is the third head coach in school history.  Coach Yancey coached the team for 7 years from 2005 – 2011; Paul Brenner coached the team from 2002 – 2004.  Our thanks go out to Coach Yancey and Coach Brenner for laying the foundation of our football program for years to come.  And to Coach Walt Smith and your family – we’re glad you’re now a part of the Zion Eagle Family!!  Go Eagles!

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.   Our theme for the  year is “Give Thanks” from Psalm 118:28-29.  It is very appropriate for all of us at ZCA to spend the year reflecting on the many blessings that God has given to each of us and to this ministry.  ZCA has experienced an enrollment growth of over 50% during the past five years.

Give Thanks

“You are my God, and I will give you thanks;

you are my God, and I will exalt you.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;

His love endures forever.”

Psalm 118:28-29

 (Theme for 2011-2012)
