Our Lower Campus Art teacher is sharing her student work, and the world has noticed.
Karen Green wanted to showcase the fun pieces her students produce, so she created an Instagram account to display their work. "We need to share all this goodness so our families can delight in the abundant color, creativity, and really remarkable skill our students exhibit."
Karen's outlet of choice was out of her comfort zone, and at first she was unsure "Not being a user of social media, I found the whole process a bit intimidating, but when I noticed the earliest followers were from Brazil, Lithuania, and Portugal, to name a few, I was hooked! It's been a treat seeing daily additions of likes and followers among our families, community, and best of all, our upper campus students. I hadn't foreseen their interest and I relish that. Our favorite comments have been posted by an older brother and I think some of my co-workers follow just to see what he has to say!"
It has been rewarding for students to see their artwork presented in this format, to be acknowledged for their effort, and to see appreciation locally and abroad. "It inspires me to keep looking for fresh ways they can dazzle their new audience, and it's a continual reminder of how supportive our families are."
You have two opportunities to see this amazing work for yourself. Our first ever lower campus art show will be held during the Open House in February. "All of our elementary students will be represented. I can say with certainty that it will be worth seeing!"
