Guidance and College Planning

Why would I need to meet with the Guidance Counselor?

Parents and students usually meet with the guidance counselor for one of three reasons:  academic, college/career or personal counseling.  If you are in need of one or more of these services, please call the main office.  Mr. Stephen McCollum, Zion's Assistant Principal and Guidance Counselor, has 14 years of experience in Christian education and 24 years of pastoral experience. You will find him ready to assist, willing to listen and on call to help in any way he can.

How can I make an appointment to meet with the Guidance Counselor?

Mr. McCollum is available Monday-Thursday and appointments can be made for most hours of the day. Simply call the main office at 931-388-5731 and request a time. It is helpful if you state the purpose of the meeting so any required materials are readily available. If you would prefer to contact Mr. McCollum via email, he can be reached at either guidance@zioneagles.org or oncallministry@yahoo.com.

Are there other services available through the Guidance Office?

Other services offered include future career assessments, assistance in planning for ACT and SAT testing, referral services for psychological testing and counseling and helpful strategies to develop self-discipline for daily homework.  Additionally, the Guidance Department hosts helpful college planning sessions for juniors and seniors, along with their parents, as well as an annual College Fair Day each spring.

"The guidance department of Zion Christian Academy wishes for each student the passionate pursuit of God's plan for their life; fulfilling the purpose for which they were created. And through unceasing prayer, the peace of knowing they are doing the will of God."
